about

LIMITED EDITION 12" released by "Zachęta" - The National Art Galery

...and now for something slightly different. This time Jacek Sienkiewicz pairs with Poland's top... cartoonist, Marek Raczkowski for a soundtrack to an exhibition by visual artist Agnieszka Brzeżańska. On the first track, Jacek provides slick, shuffling beats and hypnotic synths on top of which we find Marek's neurotic, obsessive almost, jazzy electric piano melody, surprisingly raw compared to smooth production. Lead motive is repeated for a second track, this time in an epic ambient fashion, reminiscent of some classic Carl Craig or Derrick May productions. Detroitish sound is also present on side B, with swirling persussion over minimal beat and seriously uplifting strings. The EP closes with few minutes of jazz- inspired introvertic melody, without losing its strong rhythmic base. Definitely solid, though a bit tongue-in-cheek set of detroit techno stylings.
